Artist’s statement

My work explores the intersection of the biological and the botanical, reimagining the natural world through a lens of surrealism. By merging the structured, armored forms of entomology with the soft, ephemeral qualities of flora, I aim to highlight the shared architecture of living things. Whether I am rendering the heavy exoskeleton of a Hercules beetle or the delicate petal of a poppy, my focus remains on the harmony of form and the quiet tension between strength and fragility.

I utilize a grounded palette of sage greens, deep navys, and soft floral tones to create a sense of atmospheric stillness. This approach allows the subjects—ranging from literal still-life arrangements to hybrid specimens with root-like limbs—to exist in a space that feels both scientific and dreamlike. Ultimately, my art serves as an invitation to observe the intricacies of nature’s design, finding beauty in the seamless grafting of the plant and animal kingdoms.
